Thermostat: To troubleshoot your air conditioner and determine if you need a replacement, the first step is to check your thermostat. If your thermostat is showing a blank screen, it may need batteries. If you’ve replaced the batteries and the display is still blank, remove the thermostat from the wall and check to make sure it’s getting power and that all wires are properly connected.
Breaker Panel: Check your break panel next and make sure no breakers have tripped. If everything looks normal, flip your central AC switch on and off to reset your connection.
Condenser: Check your condenser to make sure it’s getting power. If your thermostat screen is still blank, check your condenser outside and ensure a fuse isn’t tripped.
Call North Texas HVAC: Still struggling to troubleshoot your AC and thermostat? Give us a call today and we can help.
Determining when to replace your AC unit versus repairing it is a big decision North Texas HVAC is happy to help with. Our staff is known for operating with the utmost integrity, and we consider the following factors when determining repairability versus end of life for an AC unit:
Age: Generally speaking, the age of an air conditioner is between 10-20 years old. Considering North Texas’ hot and sometimes humid climate, your AC unit may or may not be functioning to an acceptable comfort level because it’s been operated at a maximum capacity for a certain amount of time for a certain number of years. If it’s more than 10 years old, it might be time for a replacement.
Costly Energy Bills: Overtime, AC unit’s wear down and lose power as they age. If your energy bills have gradually or suddenly gotten higher over the past few summers, your air conditioner is likely struggling to perform and might need to be replaced.
Refrigerant Leaks: A common sign of wear and tear is leaking refrigerant. This diagnosis often always leads to a domino-effect of damaging your compressor. Refrigerant can be very costly to continuously replace. Our educated technicians can help you determine the best path forward that meets your budget needs and keeps your family cool.
Repair v.s. Replace: North Texas HVAC will happily provide a quick quote on repair and replacement costs. In most cases, if a repair is over a few thousand dollars, it’s probably best to consider a replacement.
Service Call: A Service Call is $69 to first determine if a replacement or retirement of your existing AC unit is necessary, or if we can get more life out of your existing unit with a simple repair. All Replacement Estimates are FREE.
Why Brand Affiliation Matters: North Texas HVAC is an authorized American Standard, Carrier, Lennox, Goodman, Trane, and other top-quality manufacturer approved dealer. This means we can offer you a replacement AC unit from wide range of warranty-backed brands that offer
affordable options that fall within your family’s budget. Our expert technicians also ensure the unit meets the minimum capacity threshold required to properly cool your home without putting too much stress and pressure on the unit.
Price Range: It can cost between $5,000-$12,000+ to replace and install your Air Conditioning unit. As a reputable servicer, North Texas HVAC offers financing to help get your unit replaced quickly so you don’t have to wait. Things that can affect the price: capacity needed, efficiency, modifications, HVAC equipment you’re not replacing, line set protection, installation, taxes and rebates.

Our financing partner-relationships means less stress and anxiety for you when it comes to Air Conditioning replacement costs and frustrations. Give us a call today and we can walk you through next-steps to secure financing.
Beyond replacing basic air filters, the answer is always no. Air Conditioning and Heating maintenance requires a thorough inspection, cleaning, adjustments, and sometimes gas lines to ensure optimal performance of your unit. It’s always best to work with a licensed professional when it comes to HVAC maintenance.
